What are Macronutrients?
Macronutrients are the once which are needed in large amounts. There are three macronutrients required by human body: Carbohydrates,Fats and Protein. Each of these macronutrients provide energy(calories).
1) Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are the primary source of energy to the body. After metabolism(break down) it gets converted into the final product glucose, which is then used as a main fuel source by the body.Excess glucose is stored in the form of glycogen and fat.
2)Fats: The body use fats as secondary fuel source.Dietary fat plays a very important role.It provides insulation, regulate body temperature, provide energy to the cells, absorb vitamins, metabolise hormones, protects organs etc.
3)Proteins: Protein has many roles in body.It helps repair and build your body’s tissues.Protein is required to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. It is the main building block of of bones, muscles, skin and blood.
